Spring 2012 Drop/Withdrawal

Schedule Adjustment Period  (Swap)

January 26, 2012 – February 8, 2012

During the schedule adjustment period (above) students may drop a course and replace it with another course (Swap) for the same number of credits with no financial penalty.

Note: If you drop a course and replace it with another course (with same number of credits) and later drop that new course, without replacing it, you will be charged for both classes as outlined below because the SWAP is no longer in effect.

Example:

Proper SWAP during Schedule Adjustment Period – Charged for 3 credits of tuition and fees.

Add Math 101 (3credits), Drop Math 101, Add Math 102 (3 credits)

Non-SWAP during Schedule Adjustment Period – 80% refund

Add Math 101 (3 credits), Drop Math 101, Add Math 102 (3 credits), Drop Math 102

Charged 20% of tuition and fees for dropping Math 101 AND 20% of tuition and fees for dropping Math 102.

Swap Scenario Examples

  • Add a class anytime between January 26 and February 8, drop a class (for the same number of credits)anytime between January 26 and February 8, no financial penalty.
  • Add a class anytime between January 26 and February 1, drop a class (for the same number of credits)anytime between February 2 and February 8, no financial penalty.
  • Add a class anytime between February 2 and February 8, drop a class (for the same number of credits) anytime between February 2 and February 8, no financial penalty.

Note:  Students dropping a class between February 2 and February 8 who do not add another class for the same number of credits on the same day, will be charged 20% of tuition and refundable fees (and 100% of non-refundable fees) for the dropped class until another class for same number of credits is added.  Once another class is added (provided it is added by February 8, and it is for the same number of credits as the dropped class) the charges for the dropped class will be reversed automatically.

Drop Scenario (No-Swap) Examples

  • Drop a class anytime through February 1, receive a 100% refund of tuition and refundable fees.
  • Add a class anytime before January 26, drop the class on February 2, receive an 80% refund of tuition and refundable fees.

No refunds for drops equal or above 12 credits.

Withdrawal Scenario (No-Swap) Examples

  • Withdraw from the Spring ’12 semester on February 10, receive a 60% refund of tuition and refundable fees.
  • Withdraw from the Spring ’12 semester on March 1, no refund of tuition or fees.

* Students are responsible for payment of 100% of non- refundable fees
